How we Support and Develop Your Child

The PE department aims to provide effective learning opportunities for all pupils. Every pupil has equal access to national curriculum physical education with learning experiences differentiated in such a way as to meet the needs of all pupils. We adapt, modify or offer alternative activities that have integrity and equivalence to the activities in the programmes of study and that enable the pupils to make progress at all threshold levels. All pupils have quality of opportunity in terms of curriculum balance, curriculum time use of resources use of facilities and access to extra-curricular activities.

How we Assess Your Child's Progress

Students are given verbal feedback on how to improve their performance and are also given the opportunity to self and peer assess throughout a unit of work. To show progression throughout a unit of work, students will complete a core task to assess their starting point and are assessed at the end to show their progression. Assessment uses the schemes of work for each key stage. Using the school-based Thresholds, students’ record activity assessments in their planner. At the end of the year students will sit a short written test to assess their understanding of the Health Related Education unit which will eventually link with the theoretical topics taught at GCSE and BTEC courses of study at GCSE.
