Enrichment

Our aim at Lytchett Sixth Form is to engage all students in a programme of enrichment intended to support students' personal development alongside their wellbeing.

We endeavour to encourage and monitor students' level of engagement which we believe will provide Lytchett students with an advantage in future interviews for employment, apprenticeships or university.

Some particular highlights include:

Duke of Edinburgh's Award

We offer the gold or silver award in Year 12. For the silver award, you undertake some volunteering, improve your physical abilities, develop a skill, and take part in a three-day hike, walking about seven hours per day, with two nights of camping, one of which is in a wild camp setting (with no facilities). For more information, please see our Duke of Edinburgh's Award pages, or send us an email.

Spanish Exchange

Year 12 and Year 13 MFL students have recently participated in a highly successful exchange visit to Spain. Part of their trip involved an interview with a Spanish radio station. The feedback from the host school and the students has been tremendously positive.

Paired Reading

Years 12, 13 and 14 students are invited to pair up with and listen to a selection of Year 7 readers on a weekly basis. The feedback on this scheme is very positive and our Sixth Formers find it a very rewarding exercise.

Mentoring

At Lytchett, we actively encourage our older students to mentor  students in the lower school. Their insight into school life, specific subjects and life skills can prove invaluable to younger members of the school community. Where applicable, teaching staff will invite students with strengths in specific areas to help and provide guidance in lessons with lower school students.

Student Voice

Lytchett Minster School has regular student voice meetings, with representatives across every year group. This is a great opportunity for students to speak up for their peers and provide feedback to staff.
