The Gainsford Theatre at Lytchett Minster School is one of the best of its kind in the country for comprehensive schools. Our large auditorium, capable of holding an audience of up to 450, with retractable tiered seating and optional orchestra pit, is used for a variety of functions and events, including our annual whole-school production, something which the creative arts department along with hundreds of students and volunteers work tremendously hard towards each year. We also hold a variety of music concerts, lectures and performances taking place throughout the academic terms.
The technical equipment in the Gainsford Theatre is second to none. Our entirely LED lighting rig opens up endless possibilities in terms of lighting solutions and all fixtures are operated using a state of the art ETC Congo Kid lighting desk. In terms of sound, our EM Acoustics speaker set-up with active RCF ART900 bass bins delivers a consistent and high quality sound: perfect for productions, performances and cinematic projections. Sound is controlled using an Allen and Heath GLD80 digital desk to ensure high-quality signal processing and mixing.
Many elements of the theatre including house lights, tabs, lectern microphone and projection can be operated using our AMX control app for iPad, specifically programmed to meet the needs of the Gainsford Theatre. The application can work entirely independently of both the sound and lighting desks, which is particularly useful for conferences or lectures, where the full operation of all the equipment isn’t required. The app is extremely user friendly and can be used to set up most typical functions.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions, if you’re interested in booking out the theatre or if you just want to come and have a look around. Technical tours can be arranged on a formal or informal basis. We’re extremely proud of the facilities we have in the theatre at Lytchett Minster School; come and see why!
