Business Studies

Course Details

This course equips the student with the knowledge and understanding of how to run a business and work in one successfully.

Students study three units:

  • Setting up a business
  • Growing as a business
  • Investigating a business

This involves two written papers, one hour each, which accounts for 75% of the marks. There is also a controlled assessment unit which accounts for 25% of the marks. This involves a business investigation on a pre-released scenario.

Students will leave the course with an understanding of what businesses are all about and how to succeed in both running one and working for one.

The course helps to develop a wide range of skills that can not only be applied to a wide range of AS/A2 level subjects but also the work environment, such as group work, presentations, project writing, role play, research and independent study.

In particular students will be well prepared for both the A-level in business, and the widening world of business.
