Careers and Work-Related Learning

We are delighted to offer careers advice and support.

Students are able to attend local placements from the database provided, or they are able to attend a different placement outside those offered on the database. The company must have Employer's Liability Insurance (ELI). No student is allowed on placement without the company being in possession of this.

There is a charge of £18.00 per placement from the database and a charge of £40.00 for a placement outside of those offered on the database (the reason for the higher charge is to cover the costs of the provider sending out an assessor to establish that all health and safety requirements are in place, and that the environment is satisfactory for a student to be placed).

Please could parents be aware that if a student does not hand their forms in on time sometimes a late entry charge is incurred (this is from the provider, not Lytchett Minster School).

Careers, Apprenticeships and Other Opportunities

The following links may be useful in determining other opportunities.

If you are leaving school and looking for an apprenticeship, Bournemouth and Poole College has over 100 vacancies available in many areas of work. The button below will take you directly to the list of vacancies and applications can be made online, at the open event on Thursday, 14 June (16.00 - 20.00). All are welcome. For further information, please contact the college on 01202 205500 or email apprenticeships@bpc.ac.uk. They are always happy to help with apprenticeship information and employability workshops.

Preparing for an Interview

Many of our students will soon be looking for work, either full- or part-time, or apprenticeships. These will usually require attendance at an interview; the document available for download below provides a good starter for preparing what may be asked of them.
