Films, Stars and Canapés

The Lighthouse was the setting for our Media Department’s 5th annual Render Film Festival. Dressed in formal attire, BTEC Film & Television students celebrated their films with their families and friends on the ‘big screen’. The films ranged from a teenager coping with the loss of her best friend to a strange operation causing the appearance of omnipresent frogs! Awards followed after canapés and photographs on the red carpet. The awards were as follows:


The Resilience Award: Emma Eckton, Josh Dyke, Lola Donald and Nathaniel Burbidge

The Special Effects Award: Issy Campbell – The Witness

The Cinematography Award: Jack Norris – Bitter Sleep

The Teen Scream Award: Ellie Hedges – The Crimson Curse

Best Actor: Jack Willingham – The Local Legend

Best Editing: Georgia Reynolds – Only Clues Can Tell

Best Drama: Samuel Crumpler – Too Late

The Visionary Award: Zac Barnes - Unseen

The Quirky Award: Chloe Machin - Infusion

Best Location: Oscar Hardwick – The Bodig Man

Best Screenplay: Amy Dunbavin – The Devil in Disguise

Best Coming-of-Age Film: Frankie Lyon – The 5 Stages of Grief

Issy Campbell really stole the show as she won Best Film with her thrilling film: The Witness. You can watch Issy's film here. This film has violent imagery - viewer discretion advised.
