Everything you need to know about student life at Lytchett
The curriculum at all Key Stages is designed to provide students with a broad and balanced experience of learning which promotes an enjoyment and commitment to learning leading to excellent progress and achievement and the development of skills for life. In 2007, OFSTED confirmed that "the curriculum in the main school and in the Sixth Form is outstanding. The school offers a very broad and balanced curriculum which has responded to students' needs and their requests". The curriculum comprises every aspect of a student's educational experience within and outside the classroom. It builds on the foundations laid in feeder schools and is committed to adding value to student potential.
At KS4, an extensive range of extra curricular activities are provided aimed at enriching students' experiences and to support their personal development. All students undertake a two week period of work experience in Year 10. There is a well-established programme of guidance in place to support students' successful progression into the Sixth Form, Further Education or Work Place Learning (Apprenticeship) recognised as "outstanding" by OFSTED in 2007. "Students make informed choices on their future studies through the highly effective guidance they receive."
The Lytchett Sixth Form was established to provide for all students who are serious about taking their education and training further. It is a thriving and vigorous community which brings together a large number of committed and ambitious students who enjoy achieving.
The curriculum at Lytchett is hugely supported by a plethora of excellent facilities in all subject areas. In an endeavour to promote greater independence and creativity in learning, two brand new and spacious libraries have been set up and resourced. One is for the exclusive use of students at Key Stage 3; the other for use in the upper school. These areas provide vibrant learning environments with easy and extensive access to ICT facilities. If you have any questions about the Curriculum, please contact Tony Perry via email or by telephoning the school on 01202 622413.
