Students in the Sixth Form at Lytchett are supported in a number of ways.
Dedicated tutors and structured tutor timetables
All students in the Sixth Form have a dedicated Tutor they will see daily during registration. Tutors are the first port of call for students and will take an active role in supporting students throughout their time in the Sixth Form.
We have a dedicated Sixth Form safeguarding team who are available throughout the school day for students to speak to. This team can link in with other members of the wider safeguarding team or the school counsellor to offer students support and reassurance.
We believe that students of any year should be able to access the support of our dedicated school counsellor. We are able to offer appointments on site to students who are not being counselled externally.
Mindfulness involves training our attention to experience the present moment with greater curiosity and kindness. This helps us to not only appreciate what is going well but to respond more skillfully to life's inevitable challenges. Where possible this is made available to all students and is proven to help improve concentration, focus and to help students pursue their personal goals in addition to helping students better deal with stresses and anxiety.
We have a dedicated careers adviser from Ansbury who offers student appointments three days a week. Students can be referred for these appointments by their tutors or can self-refer.
The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome specific barriers to participation so they can remain in education. The allocation of bursary is dependent on students maintaining a good level of attendance throughout the academic year.
