We are delighted to announce that, thanks to a generous donation from the PTA, we have recently been able to install a professional-grade weather station. This exciting new resource will be invaluable to the geography department, as well as providing data that can be used in other curriculum areas, such as physics and mathematics.
The heart of the new system is a wireless sensor array which we have mounted on the roof of one of the school buildings, collecting data on wind speed and direction, rainfall, temperature and so on. This information is received by two display consoles, one of which is permanently connected to the school network, logging the data for future analysis and use within coursework. The live data is also uploaded to the internet for general interest – for example, please see our weather station page and our Weather Underground dashboard. Additionally, a large-screen display of live weather data will soon be installed within the geography department.
