Former Lytchett Student Aims for Olympics

Former Lytchett Minster School student Sam Whaley is currently aiming to be part of Great Britain’s sailing squad at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. He will compete in the laser class trials at the end of March, with seven other competitors vying for the place at next year’s Games.

Sam won the RS Aero World Championship last year and has been training recently in Vilamoura, Portugal, and Florida. “I am confident I can make a big impact and hopefully be selected to represent Team GB in Tokyo,” Sam said to local press.

We wish Sam every success and look forward to watching an undoubtedly promising career develop over the coming years.

More information can be found on Sam’s website.
