Sandwalk Supports Local Charities

Zoe and Margo at Jean's HouseYear 10 student Zoe Campbell, accompanied by her grandmother Margo and teacher Simon Wyatt, was recently invited to the opening of CLIC Sargent’s Jean’s House in Southampton. The rejuvenated property has seven bedrooms and provides accommodation for children (along with their families) who are undergoing cancer treatments. Zoe has been involved in the background as Lytchett Minster School raised £10,000 towards the refit of the property. Zoe and Margo were shown around and ITV’s Meridian news crew was there to catch the moment.

A further £10,000 was also donated to Poole Hospital Charity with former student and beneficiary of treatment on Durlston Ward Taylor Cockroft fronting the Sandwalk appeal with a video diary throughout his treatment. The hospital is purchasing recliner seats that will allow those accompanying patients to sleep during their stay.

A huge thank you to all students who completed the Sandwalk and supported these two invaluable charities. The school’s Student Voice Charity Committee will now begin to plan for next year’s walk. Watch this space!
